The SAGA DAWA Festival Tour stands as a pinnacle of Tibetan Buddhist celebrations, revered and cherished by devotees. It occurs annually on the full moon day of the fourth lunar month in the Tibetan calendar, commemorating the enlightenment of Sakyamuni Buddha. This remarkable festival, also known as the Festival for Releasing Living Things, holds deep significance, marked by a solemn vow among Tibetan people to abstain from consuming meat and harming any living beings throughout the fourth month, dedicating their focus entirely to worship.

Legend intertwines with tradition on the 15th day of the fourth Tibetan month, believed to be the day of Sakyamuni Buddha's birth, enlightenment, and passing. Each year, in honor of this auspicious occasion, communities adorn themselves in resplendent attire, engaging in spirited song and dance, and partaking in picnics or gatherings in the serene surroundings of Lingka.

For those who have long harbored the dream of traversing the terrain of the Tibetan plateau and gazing upon the majestic Mt. Kailash, this journey awaits. The mountain holds profound significance for adherents of various faiths, including Buddhism, Hinduism, and Bonpo.

For Hindus, Mt. Kailash is revered as the sacred abode of Shiva, a deity of immense power in Hindu mythology. Buddhists regard it as Kang Ringpoche, the esteemed Snow Mountain, while Jain followers revere it as Mount Ashtpada, where Rishabanatha, the founder of Jainism, is said to have attained spiritual liberation.

Bonpo, the pre-Buddhist religion of Tibet, venerates the mountain as the Nine-Storey Swastika Mountain, believed to be the path to heaven. Pilgrims embark on the arduous journey, circumambulating the 55km path around Mt. Kailash, known as Meru in both ice and stone.

For Hindus and Buddhists alike, circumambulating the holy mountain is believed to cleanse one of a lifetime's sins, instilling a profound sense of spiritual renewal and purification. The SAGA DAWA Festival Tour offers an opportunity to partake in this sacred pilgrimage, enveloped in the awe-inspiring majesty of the Tibetan landscape and the spiritual resonance of Mt. Kailash.
