Tibet Overland Tours travelling by land from Kathmandu to Lhasa makes up a fabulous journey, that’s sure to create some of the best memories to last a lifetime. From enjoying the views of the world’s highest mountains, to travelling through the world’s highest plains, the tour gets more adventurous with each passing time. Actually seriously adventurous, as you may also have to do without proper accommodation and amenities! It certainly isn’t easy to make it to Tibet but it’s definitely worth the effort. Tibet was only opened to tourist sin 1985, to save the unique culture and religion far from the influence of the outer world. The infrastructure of the tourist industry is still very basic in this remote country. Please do not expect the standard you are accustomed to in the west. Having said that, we at Skyline give it our best effort to ensure a smooth and pleasant trip departure!
The tour starts from Kantipath Thamel at 05:00 AM, as you report, you are set to start your journey to the Friendship Bridge [116kms/6hrs drive]. Enrobe, breakfast stop is made at the Dhulikhel lodge resort. An early start is made on the first day as china time is 02:00 hrs 15 minutes ahead of Nepal time in winter & 03:00 hrs 15 minutes in summer.
