Dolpo trekking is opened to trekking in 1989, the Dolpo region is hard to match for it’s pristine beauty and rugged charm, where one can still have opportunity to meet the nomadic people and their life style almost untouched and unexplored. The Himalayas offer an endless variety of landscapes, cultures and great people. This unbounded diversity makes it a destination you can visit over and over again. It even becomes more interesting and fascinating with every time you return.Lower Dolpa trek crosses three relatively high passes, good paths are followed throughout and there is no trekking on glaciers. At the edge of the Tibetan Plateau in the Himalayan rain shadow lies Dolpo the legendary hidden land closed for years to trekkers. The lack of other tourists, the warm welcome given by the hardy Dolpo-Pa & the fascinating insight into the Tibetan way of life makes this an extremely varied & special trek.
A Skyline treks in Nepal, it is ideally suited to both beginners and those who have "been everywhere". You haven't until you've been to Dolpo.
The Trekking Group
For the Lower Dolpo trek, there will be one leader, one cook, assistant leader (4 trekkers: 1 assistant guide) and Sherpa porters for luggage carrying (2 trekkers: 1 porter), other helpers (1 trekker: 2 helpers). This arrangement ensures that should anybody in the group is sick, the trip can still go ahead as planned. We can run the Lower Dolpo Trek for at least a group of two, and include maximum of twelve people only, as we've found this to be the optimum size for a successful trip. However, if you'd like to make a group booking for more than twelve people together, we can arrange this too.
