Namo Buddha or Takmo Lujin is a very sacred place for the Buddhists. The Stupa situated just off to the downtown Kathmandu is visited by scores of pilgrims every year. There is a legend behind the reverence of this place. According to the Buddhist legend, the King Mahasattva gave his body to a hungry tigress at this place. His reliquary Stupa remained underground for centuries. One day a hermit called Bhagavan (Sakyamuni) came to this site and got attracted to the bulge. It is said that he clapped his hands, and miraculously the Stupa appeared. It is also 3 hours hike from the Dhulikhel.
There is an amazing legend related to the Buddha, which is commemorated
by an ancient stone slab and the stupa with the all-seeing eyes of Lord
Buddha. According to the legend, one of the earlier Buddha offered his
own flesh to a hungry tiger unable to feed her hungry cubs. It is also
a three hour trekking from Dhulikhel through a number of small villages.
There are a couple monasteries and one ancient stupa erected nearby
in which one can make offerings, pray, and light butter lamps
Namo Buddha is a good place for meditation as well.
