Trekking in eastern Nepal includes an
eastern approach to Everest, the Makalu Base Camp and
the Kanchenjunga. The eastern region of Nepal is remote.
So, it is not so popular like other parts but this region
have endless variety of places to explore, hiking climbing
and village excursion tour. Eastern region have the ethnic
cast like Rai, Tamang, Sherpa, Limbu etc having their
own culture. The places like Basantapur, Dhankuta, Hile,
Khandbari and Bhojpur are prosperous and clean. This area
is also famous for tea growing area, Ilam tea is famous
in Nepal and India belongs to this region. To make trips
to eastern mountains, either domestic flight or long journey
by bus is necessary. The main domestic airports are Tumlingtar,
Lamidada and Taplejung which have direct connection with
Katmandu.
Kanchanjunga at 8598 m is the world’s third-highest
mountain lies on the border of Sikkim and Nepal. The main
attraction of this area are panoramic views of eastern
mountains, Kumbakarna, Jannu Peak, Tent Peak, Givigela
Chule, Chang Himal, Pathibhara, Olangchumgola (Newly opened),
Pumori, Arun valley etc. This area has numbers of flora
and fauna. The trekking starting points are Taplejung,
Basantapur, Hile, Chatra, Lukla and Lamidada. If a person
want to visit on low altitude Mayam dada trek will be
suitable for those persons.
