Kathmandu
Kathmandu, historically known as city of temples, is capital city of Kingdom of Nepal.This historical city is remained unchanged e the Middle Ages. Other regal sister cities in the valley are Lalitpur and Bhaktapur. The Kathmandu valley (1450 M.) is famous for cultural heritage, scenic beauty, beautiful countryside, ethnic settlements, pilgrimages of holiest shrines for Hindus and Buddhists. There are seven World Heritage Sites declared by the UNESCO in the Kathmandu valley (400 sq.kms.) itself. This city a cultural hub is the center of various multi-attractions for all Nepal visitors.
Pokhara
Pokhara valley (827m.) lies in 200 Km west of Kathmandu valley. The valley is the most popular destination in Nepal after Kathmandu. It is the second biggest city of Nepal where around 135000 inhabitants live. This city became the most interesting especially when explorers found that it is the only valley in the world from where one can see snowcapped mountains higher than 8000m. from below 1000 m. These mountains lie in about 25 to 35 km. Arial distance. This valley is the most famous trekking starting gateway for world famous trekking areas such as to Fishtail, Annapurna and Dhaulagiri area. More than 70% of the total trekkers of Nepal trek in Annapurna region. scenery .There are seven lakes including the second biggest lake of the country in this beautiful valley and it is known as the most beautiful tourist valley of Nepal. The crystal clear reflection of snow capped mountains on the lake really makes the city unique and adds more features to make the city more attractive. There are several ethnic groups and the Gurungs who are world famous British Gurkhas live harmoniously and all of them preserve their cultural features. The smooth and harmonious blend of natural beauty and cultural attractions make this city as a unique city. It is only 30 minutes flight and 6 hours drive from the capital. There are around 20 flights and several deluxe tourist bus services daily. More over, This city is also linked with some mountain airports. Mustang (3000m) and Manang (3400m.) are major of them. you can reach in 20 minutes to such wonder places from this city. Lumbini
A birthplace of Lord Buddha. The sites described as a beautiful Garden in the Buddha's time still retain its legendary charm and beauty. Located 150km south from the tourist city of Pokhara.
Chitawan
Nepal's first and most famous national park is situated in the Chitwan
Doon or the lowlands of the Inner Terai. Covering an area of 932 sq
km. the park includes hilly areas of the Siwalik Range covered by deciduous
sal forest. One fifth of the park is made up of the floodplains of the
Narayani, Rapti, and the Reu Rivers and is covered by dense tall elephant
grass interspersed with riverine forests of silk cotton (kapok), acacia
and sisam trees. This ecologically diverse area is the last remaining
home in Nepal for more than 300 of the endangered Asian one-horned rhinoceros
and harbours one of the largest populations of the elusive and rare
Bengal tiger. Besides rhino and tiger, Chitwan also supports a great
variety of flora and fauna. There are four species of deer, including
the spotted chittal, leopard, sloth bear, wild boar, rhesus monkey,
grey langur monkey, wild dog, small wild cats, the white stockinged
gaur (the world's largest wild cattle) and many other smaller animals.
The swampy areas and numerous oxbow lakes of Chitwan provide a home
for marsh crocodiles. In a stretch of the Narayani river is found one
of the few remaining populations of the rare and endangered fish-only
eating gharial, or Gangetic crocodile. Here also is found one of the
world's four species of freshwater dolphins. For the ornithologist and
the amateur bird-watcher the park offers excellent possibilities with
more than 450 species recorded. Some of the resident specialities are
several species of woodpeckers, hornbills, Bengal florican, and red-headed
trogons. Winter birds such as waterfowl, Brahminy duck, pintails and
bareheaded geese, amongst many other cold weather visitors are drawn
by the sanctuary of the park's rivers. In the summer the forest is alive
with nesting migrants such as the fabulous paradise flycatcher, the
Indian pitta and parakeets.The best time to visit Chitwan National Park
is from September to March. Chiwan National Park is easy to reach from
Kathmandu and from other part of the country.
