Chisapani Nagarkot Trek uniquely designed trek encircles the three great trekking places, guaranteeing the best feeling of nature coupled with picturesque views of neatly terraced villages & fields and spectacular mountains. Together, they make up a great trekking experience!

We start our trek from Sundarijal, which is only an hour drive from the center point of Kathmandu. Even though, it’s the near to the hustle and bustle of the city, Sundarijal is largely hilly in its terrain with few flat areas, totally covered by dense forests. The vast amount of ‘Sundarijal’ falls under ‘Shivapuri national park’. Hence, its vegetation consists of mostly pine, oak, rhododendron, and other forest types. Wildlife recorded in the area includes the Himalayan Black bear, leopard, jungle cat, and rhesus monkey. The area around Sundarijal is the habitat of 177 species of birds, which includes at least nine threatened species, 102 species of butterflies with several endangered species, and 129 species of mushrooms

Apart from the rich bio-diversity, the ever so beautiful natural high water springs, rivers and the encircling snow-capped mountains on the backdrop, adds to the excitement of this trek. From Sundarijal, we hike upwards to Chisapani (2194m), which is yet another marvelous view-point of sunrise and sunset. We ascend towards ‘Nagarkot’ from Chisapani; Nagarkot at an elevation of 2175 m is the most popular hill-station of Kathmandu. Nagarkot is so much more than just a view-point of sunrise or sunsets; it’s a great place to relax your mind and body and for once escape the daily routine hectic life.

Chisapani Nagarkot trek difficulty

The Chisapani-Nagarkot trekking is a popular trekking route in Nepal that offers beautiful views of the Himalayas, lush forests, and rural landscapes. In terms of difficulty, the Chisapani-Nagarkot treks is considered to be a moderate trek suitable for beginners and trekkers with moderate fitness levels. Here are some factors to consider regarding the difficulty of the trek:

Duration:

The trek usually takes around 2 to 4 days, covering a distance of approximately 32 kilometers. While the daily walking hours can vary, you can expect to walk for around 4 to 6 hours per day, depending on your pace.

Altitude:

The maximum altitude reached during the trek is around 2,195 meters at Nagarkot. The gradual ascent allows for proper acclimatization, reducing the risk of altitude-related issues.

Terrain:

The trail consists of a mixture of well-defined paths, stone steps, and some steep uphill and downhill sections. There are some moderately challenging sections, but overall, the terrain is not overly technical or demanding.

Weather:

Weather conditions can vary depending on the season. It's advisable to check the weather forecast and plan your trek accordingly. The Chisapani-Nagarkot trek can be done throughout the year, but the best time is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) seasons when the weather is generally clear and favorable.

Fitness Level:

While the trek is considered moderate, it's recommended to have a basic level of fitness and endurance. Regular exercise and some prior hiking experience can be beneficial in preparing for the trek.

Day 01: 1 hr drive to Sundarijal and commence trek to Chisopani (2100m) 4 hrs (B, L, D)
Day 02: Trek to Nagarkot (2350m) 6 hrs (B, L, D)
Day 03: Nagarkot drive to Kathmandu 1 hrs and  check in Hotel. Rest of the time for shopping (B, L)
