Jiri indeed holds a significant historical and logistical importance as the starting point for treks into the Everest region. Its role as the "Gateway to Mt. Everest" is underscored by its association with the early expeditions to the world's tallest peak, including the iconic journey led by John Hunt that culminated in Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary's historic summit of Mount Everest.
Despite the challenging and lengthy nature of the trek from Jiri to Everest Base Camp, it remains an attractive option for a select group of adventurous trekkers. The route offers a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in the rugged beauty of the Himalayas while tracing the footsteps of legendary mountaineers.
While the majority of trekkers opt for the convenience of flying into Lukla to begin their journey, those who embark on the Jiri route are rewarded with a more authentic and physically demanding experience. The trek from Jiri allows trekkers to gradually acclimatize to the altitude and terrain, offering a deeper connection to the landscape and culture of the region.

Jiri to Everest Base Camp trekking
8th November, 2022
What I am about to say is extremely important. I bought Jiri to Everest base camp trek in 2016 through Skyline treks & expedition and I have to say, that was my wised investment of my life. I don’t regret buying such marvelous Himalayan trek at all!! The every bit I climbed within 12 days that completely influenced me and not only because of the charming mountains views but also because of Skyline treks team prompt service throughout the trek.
So thanks to Mr. Madhav pandey for giving such top of the world trek. I highly recommend Skyline treks for those who are about to do Himalayan trek in Nepal.

Jiri to Everest Base Camp Trekking
8th November, 2022
We had a miraculous time in Nepal with Skyline treks and team. The 3 weeks long high altitude Everest base camp trek offered everything, hiking through the nature, world’s highest mountains coated with snow, creeping glaciers, lush meadows, gushing rivers, Kempty waterfalls, pristine lakes and many more untouched, in every turn is a jaw-dropping beauty that we experienced.
So in our personal opinion, Nepal of Jiri to Everest Base Camp (EBC) trek is the perfect place to experience the real wilderness. Big hats off for our trek guide Lhakpa Sherpa for handling the trek so delightfully. We can’t just wait to recommend Skyline treks and team. Cheers guys!
