Sikles Trek – 10 Days
Sikles Trek – 10 Days
Trip Overview
Sikles Trek, better known as a trek to ‘Ghalekharka of Annapurna region’ is a walk to the remote villages and areas that are far from the beaten tracks. Also regarded as a complete ecological trek, the area of Siklis is guarded by ‘Annapurna Conservation Area Project’ (ACAP). Hence, the environment and culture of this newly introduced trek is well-preserved.
Siklis trekking is inhabited by ethnic ‘Gurung’ people, who still practice their historic cultures, traditions and a unique lifestyle. Hence, you get plenty of opportunities to peek through their neatly placed villages, taste the local dishes and see the traditional dance performances such as ‘Ghato’ from Siklis. Like any other trekking packages in Nepal, this trek also offers the awe-inspiring views of the Lamjung himal and Annapurna.
We at Skyline Treks, have been organizing short treks to Siklis of 3 to 7 days long mainly during October to May. We can also customize the trek upon your need, so If you have suggestions, please make sure to drop us an email!
Best Season to Go
The best times to trek to Sikles are in the spring (March to May) and the fall (September to November). The weather is most stable during these times of year, the skies are clear, and the views of the mountains are great. In the spring, when the rhododendrons are in bloom, the trail is very pretty. The air is clear in the fall, and the village wakes up after the monsoon. People who want to be alone can also go in the winter, from December to February, but the temperatures can drop a lot, especially at night. You shouldn’t go during the monsoon season, which lasts from June to August, because of the heavy rains, slippery trails, and the chance of leeches.
What Makes Sikles Trek Special?
One of the few treks that has a lot of Gurung culture, beautiful scenery, and easy-to-reach trails in a short amount of time is Sikles Trek. Sikles is quieter and more real than the busier trails in the Annapurna area. You can walk through beautiful villages, terraced hillsides, and rhododendron forests that haven’t been changed by modern development. The view of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Annapurna South, and Hiunchuli from the village and the hills around it is amazing. This hike is perfect for people who want to see the Himalayas without having to climb a lot or be high up.
How Difficult is Sikles Trek Nepal?
The Sikles Trek is rated as easy to moderate, so it’s a good hike for families, beginners, or anyone who wants to relax. The highest point of the trek is about 2,000 meters, so you probably won’t get sick from the height. It takes 4 to 6 hours to walk every day, and the path goes over hills and stone steps. You don’t need to know how to do anything technical or have been trekking before, but it helps to be in good shape. This makes it a great first hike in Nepal.
What to Expect
On the Sikles Trek, you’ll walk through beautiful Gurung villages, cross suspension bridges, and follow forested paths that lead to stunning views of the mountains. The best part of the trip is staying in Sikles village, a traditional Gurung community known for its well-preserved culture, friendly people, and stunning views. You can expect quiet paths, a busy village life, and many chances to talk to the people who live there. The trek also lets you see how people in Nepal’s mid-hill region farm, build things, and go about their daily lives.

Things You Should Know
You don’t need special permits for the Sikles Trek, but you do need an ACAP permit because it is in the Annapurna Conservation Area. The path is easy to follow, and most villages have cell phone service. You can get basic supplies along the way, but we suggest that you bring your own personal items, snacks, and medicine from Pokhara. It’s important to wear layers and the right shoes in the hills because the weather can change quickly. You can make this trek shorter by only going for four days, or you can make it longer by going to nearby villages.
Is Sikles Trek for Me?
The Sikles Trek is perfect for you if you want a short, culturally rich hike at a low altitude with amazing views of the mountains.
