Tamang Heritage Trail - Some 150 years back, Nepal fought Tibet over salt mostly in the areas of the Langtang region, wherein also lies the third most frequented trekking trails of Nepal. Since, the area is connected to Tibet, the trails of this region is used by traders from Tibet exchanging salt and mountain goats for meat with foodstuffs from the south. Unfolded by the Tourism for Rural Poverty Alleviation Program, “The Tamang Heritage Trail” is the newly introduced trekking off the beaten trail’ that combines an ancient lifestyle of the ‘Tamang people’ with picturesque natural scenarios.
The Tamang’s dominate the demography of this region, however, the people are mostly Tibetans who entered from Tibet across the border and settled in the Langtang region. Earlier, the citizenship of Nepal was not easily granted to the real Tibetans, so they changed their ethnicity to ‘Tamang’. Still their culture and tradition is very similar as of the Tibetans.
The ‘Tamang Heritage Trail’ is only a few hours’ drive from the Kathmandu Valley, which offers a variety of cultural and natural experience. With the unique exposure to Tamang rituals, Tibetan culture, festivals, architecture, costumes – the trail offers a very close insight of the Tamang heritage. The culture and crafts of people of this region has remained unchanged since the beginning of their settlements.

Day 02: Drive from Kathmandu to Syabru besi (8 hours) and overnight in tea house.(B,L,D)
Day 03: Syabru besi trek to Gatlang (5 hrs) and overnight in community lodge (B, L, D)
Day 04: Gatlang trek to Tatopani (6-7 hrs) and overnight in community lodge.(B, L, D)
Day 05: Tatopani trek to Thuman (6 hrs) and overnight in community lodge (B, L, D)
Day 06: Thuman trek to Briddim (6 hrs) and overnight in local home.(B, L, D)
Day 07: Briddim trek to Lama hotel (6 hrs) and overnight in teahouse (B, L, D)
Day 08: Lama hotel trek to Langtang (6hrs) and overnight in teahouse (B, L, D)
Day 09: Langtang trek to Kanjin (4 hrs) and overnight in teahouse (B, L, D)
Day 10: Kanjin rest day and hike to Langsisa Kharka or Glacier langtang –lirung or hike to Tsherko ri (5000M) (B, L, D)
Day 11: Kanjin trek to Lama hotel (6 hours) (B, L, D)
Day 12: Lama hotel trek to Thulosyabru (5-6 hours) (B, L, D)
Day 13: Thulosyabru trek to Dhunche 5 hours (B, L, D)
Day 14: Dhunche drive to Kathmandu (6-7 hours) (B,L)
Day 15: Transfer to international airport for your final departure. (B)
