Trip Highlights
Shishapangma and Cho Oyu Expedition first climbed by H, Ching and nine other climbers via Tibet route in 1964, was opened to foreign climbers only in 1978. Shisapangma is one of the easiest to climb among the other 8,000 meter high mountains and it also has the high rate of successful ascends. The mountain is located in central Himalaya and lies totally within Tibet. When the mountaineers think of Himalaya expedition with the objective of reaching the top of 8000 meter peak with comparatively little efforts, Shishapangma in Tibet would be a good choice for climbing.
If you’re thinking of attempting the top of 8,000 peaks with comparatively less effort, then we advise you to ascend ‘Shishapangma’ from the Tibet side, as its relatively easy to climb. Our route picks up from Nyalam, 33km from the Nepal - Tibet border, up to the Chinese base camp at an altitude of about 5000-5400m.
Cho Oyu, first attempted by the Austrian team of mountaineers via Tibet route in 1954, has only been gaining popularity since recently. Cho Oyu (8201 meters), the sixth highest mountain in the world is one of the easiest to climb among the other 8,000 meter high mountains. The south face of Cho Oyu, facing Nepal is steep and challenging, hence it’s rarely attempted. While, the north side of the mountain from Tibet side is relatively moderate, and has a safe route to the mountain as well. As a result, most of the Cho Oyu expedition is made via Tibet side due to the easier access and technique as discussed earlier.
We at Skyline Treks are fully organized to make available any logical support for any sort of expeditions. Tibet Shishapangma And Cho Oyu Expedition
19th October, 2024
Summit day on Shishapangma and Cho Oyu was the highlight of the entire expedition. The weather was perfect, and we reached the top just as the sun was rising. The sense of accomplishment and the views from the summit made all the effort worthwhile. Our team worked together seamlessly, and it was an unforgettable experience.
