Dharamashala trek to Larkya La pass (5213m) to Bhimthang, (B,L,D)
Today is the most challenging and rewarding day of the Manaslu Larke Pass Trek as you cross the iconic Larke Pass (5,213m). The day begins very early in the morning, usually before sunrise, to take advantage of stable weather conditions and safer crossing.
The climb to the pass is long and difficult with steep sections, rocky tracks and thin air due to high altitude. But the effort is rewarded with stunning panoramic vistas of nearby Himalayan peaks, glaciers and vast snow-covered landscapes. After reaching the top of Larke Pass, trekkers celebrate this major achievement before beginning the long descent.
From the pass, the trail descends gradually toward Bhimtang, passing through glacial moraines, icy landscapes, and dramatic mountain scenery. The descent offers incredible views of Manaslu, Himlung Himal, Cheo Himal, and surrounding peaks. As you reach Bhimtang, the landscape becomes greener and more welcoming, marking your successful transition into the Annapurna region.
Bhimtang is a peaceful alpine valley surrounded by forests and mountains, offering a perfect place to rest after this demanding but unforgettable day.

The trail descends gradually through rhododendron and pine forest, traversing suspension bridges, streams and landslide-prone parts, following the Dudh Khola and Marsyangdi river systems. As we go down the air gets warmer and the foliage again becomes lush and thick.
Along the journey you pass small communities and enjoy occasional views of the surrounding peaks, including vistas of the Manaslu range far off in the distance. The descent is easier on the breathing, but you have to watch your step on some steep and rough slopes.
Upon reaching Dharapani, a key junction of the Manaslu and Annapurna trekking regions, you can relax and celebrate the completion of the high Himalayan crossing of Larke Pass.
Dharapani to Beshisahar and drive back to Kathmandu 07 to 09 hours (B)
After breakfast, you begin your journey from Dharapani to Besisahar, leaving the trekking trail behind and gradually returning to road access. The drive from Dharapani to Besisahar takes you through scenic mountain roads, riverside landscapes, terraced fields, and small rural settlements, offering a final glimpse of the Himalayan foothills.
Upon reaching Besisahar, you connect with your vehicle for the long drive back to Kathmandu. The road journey takes approximately 7–9 hours and follows the Marsyangdi and Trishuli river valleys, passing through lush hills, roadside towns, waterfalls, and agricultural landscapes.
As you descend toward the capital, the scenery transitions from quiet mountain surroundings to the busy and vibrant atmosphere of Kathmandu Valley. This marks the completion of your Manaslu Larke Pass Trek adventure.

Reviews
Manaslu Larke Pass Trek
What struck me the most about the Manaslu Larke Pass Trek was the sense of tranquility. Unlike some of the more famous treks in Nepal, this one felt more intimate and authentic. The cultural aspect was just as captivating as the natural beauty. As someone from Canada who enjoys sustainable travel, it was great to see community-based tourism being supported, with local teahouses offering great hospitality. I highly recommend this trek for anyone seeking a unique and peaceful adventure.
