Annapurna Region Trekking

Annapurna Region Treks

Annapurna Region Trekking every year almost 1,00000 trekkers flock to Annapurna region making it the most popular trekking destinations of Nepal. Why not? Annapurna region is home to a section of Himalayas that includes sky rocketing peaks of Annapurna I (8091m), thirteen additional peaks over 7,000 m and 16 other peaks over 6,000 m ensuring you are completely taken  aback with Annapurna ranges white beauty. The Annapurna section is 55 km long mountain ranges encircled by the Kali Gandaki Gorge (Earth’s deepest canyon) on the west, the Marshyangdi River on the north and east and Pokhara Valley on the south. The entire massifs and surrounding area are protected within the 7,629 km per square Annapurna Conservation area, the first and largest conservation area in Nepal. Therefore, the Annapurna Conservation  Area is home to several world-class trek’s such as Annapurna Circuit, Annapurna Base Camp, Ghandruk trek and just to name a few.

However, the Jomsom trek to Muktinath, the Annapurna Sanctuary route to Annapurna base camp and the Annapurna circuit which surrounds the Annapurna Himal are the three major trekking routes of the Annapurna region. The trek to Annapurna region usually starts from Pokhara Valley, which is a good place to begin any other short treks of one to four days such as routes to Ghorepani and Ghandruk. However, the Pokhara itself is renowned for the beautiful lakes and spectacular mountains views of Machhapucchare, Hiunchuli and many more. These peaks are the “gates” to the Annapurna Sanctuary leading to the south face of Annapurna I.

The Annapurna region dramatically reveals the cultural and geographical frontier running across Nepal. The area is easily accessible with plenty of guest houses in the hills and all of its treks are sure to sway you with incredible scenery of both high mountains and low land villages.  About two-thirds of all trekkers in Nepal visit the Annapurna region.
